Description

The support is available through the KU Cares programme for students aged 25 or under who have significant unpaid caring responsibilities for a family member or close friend. The package is designed to help young adult carers successfully access and complete higher education by providing financial, practical and wellbeing support.

Benefits

A Young Adult Carer Bursary of between £500 and £1000, depending on your household income.

Eligibility

You’re eligible for support if you are:

  • Aged 25 or under at the time of enrolment
  • Assessed as a ‘home' student by the university
  • Enrolled on an undergraduate course or a PGCE
  • Eligible for the full maintenance loan from Student Finance
  • Able to provide a letter from a carers network, local authority or a professional (such as a GP or teacher) to prove your young adult carer status
