About

History

In 1845, more than 15 years before the Civil War, Baldwin Wallace was founded as one of the first colleges in the nation to admit students without regard to race or gender. Today, you’ll find that spirit of inclusiveness has flourished and evolved into a personalized approach to education.

Education

The University fulfills this mission through a rigorous academic program that is characterized by excellence in teaching and learning within a challenging, supportive environment that enhances students' intellectual and spiritual growth.

Research

Research is an exciting part of the BW experience. In addition to being dedicated teachers, our professors are passionate scholars and researchers who are more than willing to involve you in their latest project or activity.

BW's Undergraduate Research and Creative Studies (URCS) supports the partnership of student and professor in a creative, hands-on approach to learning. Regardless of your interest, you'll have the chance to pursue research or a creative project in almost every field. And you won't do it alone. You'll be guided by an involved and conscientious mentor. URCS lists some of these research opportunities, but you and your professor might come up with a new idea of your own.

Career

The BW Career Network by Handshake is a web-based platform with 24/7 access to targeted employment opportunities, career mentors and relevant resources based on career interests. The BW Career Network is powered by Handshake, a powerful e-recruiting network that includes over 180,000 employers. Through Handshake, students indicate their career interests and preferences and the system personalizes relevant content to each student's account. This helps students easily find internships and jobs, upcoming events, career-related resources and more.

Student services

The Division of Student Affairs is here to assist you in becoming active members of the Baldwin Wallace community. We invite you to take full advantage of the University's numerous opportunities for leadership development, personal counseling, academic achievement through experiential learning and personal growth.

One of the best ways to get the most out of your college experience is to become involved in the activities and organizations that Baldwin Wallace has to offer. You will learn many things, develop professional skills and create lifelong friendships. Becoming involved is the key to enhancing your academic experience.

Housing services

With 1,700 students living on campus, residence life is an important part of the BW experience. The Office of Residence Life is responsible for providing an atmosphere that allows for a place to study and a place to develop social relationships.

Residence life also encourages personal growth and development while learning how to live in a community that supports the University as an academic institution. Living on campus is about expanding your college experience—making connections, getting involved and interacting with others.

All full-time students are required to live on campus their first and second year entering Baldwin Wallace University.

Library services

Getting to know your way around the BW libraries will be one of the most important things you'll do at BW. Regardless of your area of interest, you'll spend many hours of your time using the extensive resources of our three libraries. Our databases, interlibrary loan program and extensive collection of periodicals will make it easy to find material for your next big research paper or project.

ICT services

The Baldwin Wallace University IT department provides many computing and information technology services which are designed to ensure students' academic success.

Medical services

Clinic care includes evaluation and treatment of illnesses and injuries; treatment for acne, warts and burns; removal of sutures; certain lab tests; referrals when indicated; and loan of medical equipment such as crutches, heating pads and vaporizers. Also available are pregnancy testing and counseling, immunizations, allergy injections and health/wellness literature.

Student Life

Campus life

BW's picturesque, welcoming campus is a blend of history and innovation, of new thinking and classic principles. Here, you’ll walk the halls of majestic stone buildings that recall the University’s and city's historic founding, as well as ultramodern facilities that meet the needs of 21st century students. Almost 60 buildings are clustered on 100 lush acres.

Students enjoy a compact, walkable campus with some 1,700 undergraduates choosing to live in our safe, residential community. Resident or commuter student, you'll learn to find your way around quickly, with Bagley Road acting as a dividing line between north and south campus.

Sports facilities

Sports are everywhere at BW. From varsity champions to intramural competitors, most BW students participate in some kind of sports or fitness activity. That's because you will find an activity and level of competition to suit almost any student.

Student clubs

Baldwin Wallace University offers over 100 clubs and organizations for students. Clubs and organizations are divided into councils and are overseen by the BW Office of Student Activities.

Accreditation
