Our interdisciplinary Research and Knowledge Exchange strategy, called R-LINCS (Research-Led Innovation Nodes for Contemporary Society), bridges conventional boundaries between research disciplines and devises innovative approaches to address applied research questions. In practice, this means that experts from a range of disciplines, often working with external partners, pool their talents to address the complex problems that modern society faces.

The Careers Service is here to support you with career decision making during your studies and after you graduate.

We provide a professional career guidance and information service for Abertay students and graduates to help them make informed career choices. We work closely with employers and academic schools to support you by developing your skills to maximise your employability.

Student services

Abertay offers an integrated range of support services covering pastoral and academic matters, delivered by a combination of Student Services, Information Services, the Student Association and academic schools.

Whatever course you’re studying, support is available to help you to develop your skills in different aspects of degree-level work:

  • Being an independent learner
  • Thinking critically
  • Writing academically
  • Carrying out research
  • Giving academic presentations

Advice and guidance on all of these topics and more is available not just from your course tutors, but also from the Learning Development Advisors, Academic Librarians and IT Trainers.

Housing services

Dundee City Council provides a list of registered landlords in the area.

Whichever residence you stay in, security and maintenance staff are available 24 hours a day, and a team of cleaners ensure all your shared spaces are cleaned regularly.

Library services

Located next to our teaching buildings in our city centre campus, the Bernard King Library offers a variety of flexible, modern spaces to accommodate all learning styles. A £4 million refurbishment in 2017 has provided four floors of open plan study space, making the library a popular place for independent learning – and you may find it becomes your ‘second home’ during your time with us.

ICT services

We recognise the importance of providing our students with the type of networked computing environment they can expect to work in after graduating. A programme of continual improvement ensures that both hardware and software are the latest industry standard, providing our students with one of the best common ICT platforms of any UK university.

Medical services

Abertay promotes a safe and healthy working environment for all staff and students.

Student Life

Campus life

The University is conveniently located on a city centre campus, with all of its buildings within a quarter of a mile of each other. Shops, recreational facilities and the main bus and train stations are a short walk away.

The main buildings - Old College, Kydd Building, Student Centre and Hannah Maclure Centre - are in the Bell Street complex, grouped around the University's award-winning library.

There's always a busy atmosphere around the Abertay campus, as students come and go to lectures, meet with staff, study for exams, and attend tutorials and seminars.

Sports facilities

Sport and physical activity at Abertay University is as much a part of university life as attending lectures and tutorials. Although a small university, Abertay offers a wide range of clubs from the traditional sports such as rugby and football to the more diverse sports such as triathlon and dance.
