The University of Suffolk is a transformational university, absorbing the best of UK university traditions and aligning them with a twenty first century audience and a modern world of employment and entrepreneurship. We are a distinctive, thriving academic community which makes a clear and immediate impact.

Our two validating universities, the University of East Anglia and the University of Essex, established UCS in 2007, working with Great Yarmouth College, Lowestoft College, Otley College, Suffolk New College and West Suffolk College.

  • One of the great benefits of being a new university is that we can look at things with fresh eyes and change them for the better.
  • Our approach to learning is different. We’re here to help you succeed, so we work closely with you from the very beginning of your first year, giving you the time and attention you need to develop into a confident and independent learner.
  • Year two is focused on ‘negotiated learning’. This is learning that helps you to become more self-directed and reflective.
  • By year three, you’ll be equipped for ‘independent learning’. You’ll have access to expert support according to your specialist interests
  • Our approach to learning, assessment and feedback will help you to change, evolve and succeed.

The University of Suffolk is very proud to be home to a vibrant and dynamic research community with a range of specialist academic expertise.

In a rapidly changing and increasingly globalised world, our research is agile, responsive, collaborative, and grounded in robust scientific and ethical approaches. Research at the University of Suffolk:

  • significantly contributes to scientific, medical and technological innovation and solutions;
  •  evidences and informs key policy debates and developments; and
  • actively challenges social injustice and inequality.

As a student-centred university, our undergraduate and postgraduate courses are underpinned by high-quality applied, professional, and practice-led research.

Across our Network and within our Faculties we want to ignite your imagination and create opportunities for learning and for life. In short, if it makes the student experience more engaging and rewarding, you’ll find it at the University of Suffolk.

Learning Services works with you from the time you join the university community through to your graduation and your future career.

Our team of eLearning Developers, Academic Liaison Librarians and Academic Skills Advisors works alongside your course to support you in the developing the skills and confidence you need to succeed academically.

Overall experience at UoS

My overall university experience has matched my expectations in terms of teaching quality and provided facilities. However, remote learning tends to be an impediment in absorbing all the necessary information.
