Overview
At Bowling Green State University, the Women's Gender, and Sexuality Studies program is part of the School of Cultural and Critical Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences.
In addition to core faculty, our program draws on the expertise of affiliated faculty in all colleges of the University. This faculty educates more than a thousand students every year in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies classes.
We offer both an undergraduate major and minor, a new undergraduate minor in Sexuality Studies, and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree, students in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies are expected to be able to:
- Discuss the multiple types of feminisms that currently exist in the U.S. and internationally, as well as their histories and development;
- Critically analyze and make profitable connections between feminist theories and feminist practices;
- Explicate the basic debates or areas of contention within contemporary feminist thought;
- Describe the multiple ways in which gender is intersected by other social relations such as race, ethnicity, sexuality, class, and nation;
- Identify the basic components that distinguish feminist methodologies from other approaches to inquiry and the ways in which Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies approaches have transformed traditional disciplines;
- Communicate clearly and effectively in written and oral expression.

- Undergraduate students may be admitted to BGSU after successful completion of 12 years of formal studies in primary and secondary schools.
- $75 non-refundable application fee
- Official transcripts from secondary school and from any post-secondary school attended (no photocopies accepted)

Living costs
Bowling Green
The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Funding
The program offers an annual Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies scholarship for majors or minors with at least a 3.0 GPA. The program also manages the WEAL Legacy Awards for student scholarship. A monetary prize is also given to the best undergraduate presentation at the annual Research Symposium, in addition to other swards and recognition.
