As a specialist mental health nurse, the one-to-one relationships you build with those in need are vital to their care and to helping them overcome challenges.

With this Mental Health Nursing (Hons) course offered by University of Hull you'll learn to work and communicate with patients, families and carers – often in challenging situations – and you’ll develop the skills and experience needed to take your next steps as a healthcare professional.

The course is divided equally between classroom-based learning in our £28 million Health Campus and spending time on mentored clinical placements.

This blended approach gives you the best opportunity to develop your skills, professional insight and experience, with a focus on service user, carer and practitioner involvement.

Future prospects

Our nursing degrees have an incredible graduate employability rating, so the career prospects couldn’t be better.

You’ll graduate with the skills and experience to be a professional healthcare practitioner and eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Most of our graduates go on to work in the NHS – but others find positions overseas, in private practice, in the social services, the pharmaceutical industry, the Armed Forces, the prison service or in specialist areas such as drug rehabilitation.
