From day one on the Policing, Law Enforcement and Investigation (Hons) degree from The University of Lancashire you’ll be immersed in the real-world and online aspects of modern investigation. You'll develop essential skills in digital forensics and core investigation practice.

Key facts

You'll interpret evidence from crime scenes, examine devices in our digital lab and pursue enquiries across both physical and cyber environments. You’ll also explore applied criminology and evidence-based enquiry to understand why crimes happen and how to stop them.

As you progress, you’ll develop your abilities in interviewing, conversation management and presenting evidence in court. You'll explore more complex areas of digital investigation, including open-source intelligence, artificial intelligence and the dark web. You’ll also build knowledge in areas such as vulnerability, exploitation, youth justice and collaborative multi-agency working.

By your final year, you’ll investigate the wider law enforcement landscape. You'll engage with specialist roles in the National Crime Agency, GCHQ, HMRC, regulatory bodies, fraud teams and intelligence services. We also encourage you to think beyond traditional policing and explore careers in financial investigation, cybercrime, safeguarding and compliance.

You’ll graduate with the skills, mindset, and confidence to investigate, analyse, and protect in a complex world.
