Overview
At Susquehanna University the Exercise Science degree goes beyond the classroom to help you understand how the human body moves, adapts and thrives. You will explore courses in cell biology and genetics, nutrition, exercise physiology and biomechanics. Through interactive labs, research projects and hands-on experiences you will see how exercise influences health and performance across diverse populations.Our program equips you with the skills to design effective exercise programs, analyze data and interpret research with confidence. Guided by faculty with real-world experience in clinical and community environments, you will graduate ready to make an impact and help individuals improve their health through movement and meaningful lifestyle choices.
You will be prepared for careers in fitness, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning and wellness settings, and for advanced study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training and exercise physiology. Through our agreement with Harrisburg University qualified Susquehanna graduates have priority access to three reserved seats in each Doctor of Physical Therapy cohort, creating a clear pathway to advanced clinical training.
Learning goals
Students graduating with a major in exercise science will:
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the anatomical, physiological, biomechanical, and neurological principles underlying human movement, exercise, and performance.
- Be able to critically evaluate and apply research to design, implement, and assess exercise programs and interventions that promote health, fitness, and performance across diverse populations.
- Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, and ethical conduct in academic, clinical, and community settings related to exercise and health.
- Be able to integrate insights from the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences to understand human health and performance in social, cultural, and environmental contexts.

General requirements
- Complete online application for undergraduate admissions (there is no application fee): Susquehanna University International Application or Common Application.
- Official or attested secondary school academic transcripts from all secondary schools, post-secondary schools and universities.
- TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo English Test score report required — can be waived for SU ELL graduates, or if your high school instruction is in English for all years. Unofficial (screenshot or PDF) reports will be accepted.
- SAT and ACT scores are optional, but may improve your chances for a merit scholarship.
- Two recommendation letters. It is strongly suggested to have one from your school counselor. The other can come from a teacher or professor.
- Passport copy of your name and photo page.
