Sacred Heart University offers speech-language pathology (SLP) students the opportunity to earn their bachelor's and master's degrees on a seamless track.
Key facts
Dual degree students are guaranteed admission to the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program provided they continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria to progress into graduate program enrollment. All speech-language pathology dual degree students must major in communication disorders as an undergraduate student.
Students will complete three years of undergraduate coursework and two years of graduate coursework in this accelerated program, earning both degrees in only five years.
Accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Connecticut Office of Higher Education, SHU’s Speech-Language Pathology program prepares graduates for national certification and state licensure in Connecticut as speech-language pathologists. The three-year average pass rate for the program is 94%.
Students get robust hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings, including inter-professional service-learning trips. SLP students also work at SHU’s state-of-the-art Audiology Clinic, which offers free hearing screenings to community members. Graduates of this program are well-prepared to prevent, assess and treat all aspects of human communication and swallowing disorders.

- All students who wish to receive academic credit for coursework taken at a foreign university will have to provide a course-by-course evaluation issued by WES, ECE, FIS, TEC or by any other accredited organization listed on NACES. In addition to the course-by-course evaluation, an official description of each university course must be provided in English. The following will be considered an acceptable document:
- Certified translation of the course description/syllabus;
- English version of the course description issued by the university.
- For all non-native English speakers, an official score report of one English language proficiency examination—or acceptable waiver—is required.
