While this program is designed to be a nonterminal degree, there are several different alternative career paths students can take upon completion of this degree.The pre-veterinary program can be individually tailored to meet the entrance requirements of various veterinary colleges and optimize a student’s chance of gaining acceptance. If a student is uncertain of his or her interests and aptitudes for veterinary medicine, the degree program is an excellent opportunity to gain experience that can help guide career choices. Students should consult with one of the ADVS academic advisors to develop a program of study which best meets their needs and requirements.The Veterinary Science program offers students hands-on experience working with beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and pigs. In addition, there are many opportunities for students to get additional hands-on experiences with veterinarians and researchers.

What You Will Learn

Students will gain a strong foundational knowledge and the prerequisite courses required for veterinary school. This foundational knowledge includes core courses in the areas of nutrition, genetics, reproduction, physiology, animal health, and animal production.Students will have opportunities to gain experience working alongside professors who specialize in these areas, improving their academic experience and preparing them to gain future professional opportunities.
