Overview

At the History (with Foundation Year) programme from The University of Lancashire you’ll approach history from many different directions. The themes covered in our teaching include: cultural history, economic and social history, gender history, international history, and political history.

You’ll learn to analyse evidence, formulate questions and put forward your own arguments and interpretations, as you become a historian yourself.

What you'll do

Enrich the international dimension of history by studying abroad with bursaries and scholarships available to support this.

Gain work experience with public sector heritage and museum organisations through our Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership.

Future careers

The History degree with a foundation year could lead to a successful career in business management, the civil service, teaching, museum, library and archive work.

Graduates have gone on to further study, or careers in teaching and research, the museum and heritage sectors, journalism, public relations, central and local government, the European Union, charities and NGOs.
