Overview
The Sports Therapy (with Foundation Year) programme from The University of Lancashire is ideal if you’ve got the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly join an honours programme. It’s a great stepping stone to a full degree.
What you'll do
- Studying with us will equip you with the skills needed to gain an introductory understanding of the sports therapy sector and to progress to degree-level study.
- At the state-of-the-art sports facilities you'll gain hands-on skills to help injured athletes recover. These facilities are key to translating theory into practice.
- Deepen your understanding of sports science, strength and conditioning, and functional rehabilitation to prepare for a rewarding career in sports therapy.
Future careers
- On completion of the four-year Sports Therapy programme, you’ll be a well-rounded practitioner able to help athletes return to full fitness.
- Through a blend of specialist learning, hands-on training, and practical application, you’ll be well-prepared to practice in a variety of industry settings.
- Professional development is at the heart of this degree, with a strong focus on real-world experience. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to work in our student-led Sports Therapy and Sports Massage Clinic on our Preston Campus.
- This fully equipped injury clinic, featuring a cutting-edge movement analysis lab, offers a real-world environment for you to refine your expertise.
- Many graduates go on to launch successful private injury clinics, while others secure roles with professional and semi-professional sports teams and organisations.
- With the increasing demand for sports therapists in healthcare, graduates also find rewarding careers in the NHS and private healthcare. Moreover, the transferable skills you gain will open doors in teaching, coaching, sports science, and strength and conditioning.
