Overview

The Chemistry Major and Chemical Engineering Dual Degree program allows you to take introductory chemical engineering coursework at the University of Wisconsin-Superior where class sizes are generally smaller and more intimate – and then transfer to the University of Minnesota Duluth to complete more advanced studies.

In this program, you will pursue two degrees with approximately three years’ worth of coursework at UW-Superior followed by another two at the University of Minnesota Duluth. UW-Superior’s Bachelor of Science in chemistry is designed to facilitate a credit transfer and provide a smooth transition to earn a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Because of local demand for chemical engineers, the program has partnered with local companies to provide hands-on, real-life learning experiences to students enrolled in the program. The dual degree program is designed to provide:

Complete the UWS University Studies requirements (42 credits). (This will satisfy the UMD Liberal Education and advanced writing requirements.)

UW-Superior (UWS) and University of Minnesota, Duluth (UMD) have an articulation agreement where a student can complete a UWS Chemistry BS and a UMD Chemical Engineering BS ChE, by completing approximately 3 years of coursework at UWS and an additional 2 years at UMD.

A Cumulative GPA of 3.0+ at the time of transfer to UMD.
Complete the course with a C+ or better.
