Overview

During the four year curriculum the students are trained in a variety of acting techniques and disciplines, and are given opportunities to connect with professional theatre artists in their field, as well as perform in the departmental season, Summer Rep productions, and the professional resident theatre company productions.

Students are expected to make continued progress in their development as actors and artists. Retention is earned by the faculty’s evaluation of the student’s work, commitment, progress and personal growth. You can join the Performance degree at Florida Atlantic University.

What opportunities will you have?

FAU produces the main stage productions and one Studio 2 production during the school year, and two main stage productions every summer. The acting students have multiple opportunities to perform in plays as well as musicals.

Additionally, the professional resident theatre company Theatre Lab offers a variety of performance and backstage opportunities for the students in their new work development workshops, their Hecksher Theatre for Families production, and their three Main Stage productions.

The BFA in Acting majors audition for all Departmental productions, and accept roles as cast. They frequently perform alongside MFA acting candidates.
