As a Natural Sciences student, you will have the opportunity to work in labs around the world on research projects like studying the effect of melatonin on stress at the National Taiwan University Medical School or studying mutations in C. Elegans in the Developmental Genetics Laboratory at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.

During the summer, Natural Sciences students extend their in-semester hands-on experience and join competitive research internship programs with institutions such as the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, the MD Anderson Cancer Center, the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, and more.

At the end of your 4 years, your learning will culminate in a Capstone Project that can involve building a computational pipeline manual for biologists, improving stem cell delivery for neural tissue repair using nanomaterial scaffolds, or formulating sustainable sunscreens.

Major specific coursework begins in the second year at Minerva. In their second year, students majoring in Natural Sciences enroll in core courses that provide the foundation for the Natural Sciences concentrations. They also take electives from core courses offered in other majors.
