Liberal Studies is one of the largest majors at California State University, Fresno. Because it is interdisciplinary, it is especially beneficial for future elementary school teachers who are required to teach all subjects. Students gain a broad, diverse, culturally sensitive perspective by integrating concepts, communicating effectively, thinking critically and creatively, problem solving and making sound ethical decisions. This richly diversified education provides a foundation for meeting a wide range of future goals.

Do you want to become an elementary or special education teacher? Liberal Studies students have the opportunity to begin a Multiple Subject or Education Specialist credential program within the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree. To determine if you qualify to begin this program option and join a STEP cohort, schedule an appointment with a Liberal Studies Advisor. The advisor will review all coursework to determine the best plan of action for each individual student. Some students will elect to graduate first and begin the credential program after the degree is granted.
