Overview

Engineering course work covers several engineering disciplines. Students are prepared to use their focused study in math, science, and engineering to solve problems and design solutions in a variety of industries and settings.

The multi-disciplinary nature of the program will prepare students to serve needs in general manufacturing, technical services, construction, and engineering management.

What is General Engineering?

General Engineering programs differ from the other engineering majors (Mechanical, Electrical and others) because it is an interdisciplinary, broadly focused major studying concepts related to several engineering disciplines.

The initial coursework (e.g. mechanics, materials, math and science, thermodynamics) for General Engineers at Tennessee Tech University is the same as the course work taken for other engineering majors and you will interact closely in many of the same courses other engineer students are taking for most of your third- and forth class years. In our program, students take course work from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering areas as well as the standard math and science courses employed by any engineering major.

The required courses in the program address all of the engineering topics encountered in the national Fundamental of Engineering Examination.
