Journalists and professional communicators are responsible for providing the information people need to make vital decisions about their lives, their communities, and their governments.
This program in Journalism at Utah State University will prepare you to think critically and act professionally. You’ll strengthen your writing, reporting, and multimedia production skills while learning to ethically and effectively tell stories that have the potential to change people’s lives. Upon graduation, you’ll be a competitive candidate for a career in journalism or other professional communication field.
While many graduates pursue jobs in news media, broadcasting, public relations and corporate communication, the skillsets developed by students in journalism and communication are in demand in every industry. There isn’t a career sector in the world, after all, that is not in need of individuals who can work successfully in stressful situations, meet tight deadlines, and synthesize complex information with accuracy and clarity. The demand for strategic communication planners and social media communicators is quickly growing across a wide spectrum of industries as well.
