Overview
At the Interior Architecture program from West Virginia University students will learn approaches to design, interior construction, sustainable practices, interior materials and building codes.
While in the program, you will engage in programming, design analysis and space planning in interior environments. Our students prepare computer-aided and hand-rendered drawings and documents that detail their specifications for aesthetically pleasing interiors that meet client needs, enhance quality of life and protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.
Entry into the program is competitive. Students are evaluated at the end of their first year and a cohort of the top 20 are selected based on their performance in the Interior Design courses, projects and overall grade point average.
Interior Architecture majors are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of clubs and extracurricular activities across the campus, such as the Solar House Decathlon and the WVU Chapter of the The American Society of Interior Designers.
Program Learning Outcomes
Interior designers create architectural interiors that improve inhabitants’ quality of life and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Upon graduation from the interior design program at WVU, students will be able to demonstrate entry-level professional competencies that include:
