Overview

Plant and Landscape Systems prepares students for employment in design, construction, arboriculture, turf, irrigation, and ornamental horticulture. A minor from the Marriott School of Business is strongly recommended. The major also prepares students for a wide variety of graduate school opportunities including landscape architecture, business, science, law, medical/dental, and planning. The program is accredited by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).

Each student is required to complete at least one business- oriented internship as well as a skills-developing practicum with Brigham Young University Grounds. These experiences are an integral and valuable part of the program. Students are also encouraged to participate in the Landscape Management Club and attend national professional meetings. Interested students may participate in research projects with faculty mentors.

Career Preparation

Effectively compete for the best employment positions, including leadership in national organizations, which are available to college graduates, including self-employment.
