The Baking and Pastry Arts programme is offered by Conestoga College . Do you want to start a career in baking and pastry arts? We can support you with that.

Your instructors have your success in mind – focusing on topics covering baking and pastry fundamentals, food costing, traditional cakes, sanitation and safety, as well as bakery operations.

Through a mix of working individually, and as part of a team, you will gain the skills necessary for a lifelong career as a baking professional.

Note:

Baking and Pastry Arts programmes are very sought-after programmes. Classes may be held Monday to Sunday 7am to 11pm.

After successful completion of the first two semesters, you can apply to the Baking and Pastry Arts Management programme level 3 if you are interested in enhancing your skills.

Careers

Graduates can begin rewarding careers in restaurants, commercial bakeries, hotels, catering companies, grocery stores with in-store bakeries, or small bakeries and pastry shops.
On average, 77% of graduates from 2020 to 2022 found employment within six months of graduation.

General requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older with mature student status (See Mature Student definition for details.)

Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1250), or equivalent
Grade 11 Mathematics, C, M (U/C), or U, or equivalent OR Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics (MATH1420)
An academic strength is calculated by averaging the submitted marks of required subjects. If more than one mark is received for a required subject, the highest mark will be used in the calculation.
Ten (10) additional marks are added to each Advanced level, OAC, U, U/C, and post-secondary course used in the calculation of academic strength.
A sound mathematical and English background is important for success in this program and is considered during admission selection process. Minimum cutoffs apply.
