Overview
The Molecular Biology programme at the University of Denver provides students with a sophisticated understanding of the molecular mechanisms that govern living organisms. This curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical chemical principles and complex biological functions through intensive research and practical application.
Students can choose between two distinct degree tracks depending on their career goals. The Bachelor of Arts requires 44 quarter hours in biology alongside a chemistry minor, while the Bachelor of Science involves 50 quarter hours in biology, a chemistry minor, and additional requirements in physics and mathematics to ensure a robust scientific background.
Why Molecular Biology at the University of Denver?
The University of Denver is home to the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, which provides state-of-the-art facilities for undergraduate research. Students benefit from a supportive academic environment where faculty members lead pioneering work in cell and molecular biology, offering undergraduates unique opportunities to participate in high-level projects.
The institution maintains strong international partnerships, including the Global Masters Scholars programme. This initiative allows eligible students to collaborate with prestigious organisations such as Lund University in Sweden or the University of Western Australia, potentially earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree within a five-year timeframe.
Distinctive teaching features include the option to add a concentration in cognitive neuroscience. This interdisciplinary path allows students to combine their molecular studies with psychology and neurobiology, creating a specialised profile that is highly valued in both clinical research and advanced medical education.
