Overview

The Bioengineering and Biochemistry program at Northeastern University includes fundamentals and electives in the science of biochemistry; a complete and rigorous bioengineering core; and a series of molecular, cellular, and tissue engineering courses that allow for synthesis of the two.

Careers

The curriculum aligns well with the coursework required to apply to medical school or other clinical graduate programs and aims to provide the knowledge, skills, and perspective to pursue careers in academia or industry.

This program has the purpose of giving students a deep understanding of biochemistry while still pursuing a complete engineering degree. We imagine that this degree will be most attractive to three groups of students:

students who want an engineering degree but also want sufficient scientific rigor to pursue a career in biochemistry research
students who want to study biochemistry but also want to approach biochemistry from an engineering design framework
students who want an engineering degree but also want to complete their pre-med requirements with the third group probably being the largest

Your Common Application or Coalition Application
Your application must be submitted by the deadline, along with either the application fee ($75) or a fee waiver request.
Your Secondary School Report and Official High School Transcript must be submitted directly from your high school.
Optional Standardized Testing.
All applicants from US and international high schools will be able to choose to submit standardized testing (SAT or ACT) or not.
Non-native English-speaking applicants must continue to submit official results from an approved English Language Test or request a waiver through the Application Status Check.
English Proficiency: All students, regardless of citizenship must demonstrate English language proficiency when applying to Northeastern.
