Overview

The American Sign Language and Interpreting Education (ASLIE) Program at Northeastern University is an intensive program of study dedicated to preparing individuals to interact in a positive and supportive manner with members of the American Deaf Community.

This program is designed to assist students in acquiring competence in American Sign Language, developing an understanding of the American Deaf Community and its culture, and applying their linguistic and cultural skills and knowledge to a particular academic area of study.

Features

The American Sign Language and Theatre combined major offers both classroom and experiential learning on the creative, social, and linguistic relationship between theatre and the American Deaf Community.

Students may study acting, dramatic literature, and production design to develop the skills to be professional ASL/English interpreters and/or performers for theatrical productions.

Your Common Application or Coalition Application
Your application must be submitted by the deadline, along with either the application fee ($75) or a fee waiver request.
Your Secondary School Report and Official High School Transcript must be submitted directly from your high school.
Optional Standardized Testing.
All applicants from US and international high schools will be able to choose to submit standardized testing (SAT or ACT) or not.
Non-native English-speaking applicants must continue to submit official results from an approved English Language Test or request a waiver through the Application Status Check.
English Proficiency: All students, regardless of citizenship must demonstrate English language proficiency when applying to Northeastern.
