Overview

The curriculum in this American Sign Language and Linguistics program at Northeastern University is designed to assist students in acquiring competence in American Sign Language; and in developing an understanding of the American Deaf Community and its culture, the acquisition and analysis of human languages (signed and spoken), and how human languages work in everyday use (e.g., comprehension, generation, translation).

Careers

Students with backgrounds in linguistics have pursued advanced degrees in fields including law, cognitive science, education, English, interpreting, business, speech-language pathology, computer science, developmental psychology, sociology, and linguistics itself.

Other graduates have gone on to work in neurological research, computational linguistics, translation, language software, education, dictionary publishing, robotics, and criminal justice.

Your application must be submitted by the deadline, along with either the application fee ($75) or a fee waiver request.
Your Secondary School Report and Official High School Transcript must be submitted directly from your high school.
Optional Standardized Testing.
All applicants from US and international high schools will be able to choose to submit standardized testing (SAT or ACT) or not.
Non-native English-speaking applicants must continue to submit official results from an approved English Language Test or request a waiver through the Application Status Check.
