Overview

The combined major in Linguistics and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Northeastern University deals with the methods and applications of linguistic analyses of language data; the biology, neurology, and physics of the human vocal tract; and the nature of both normal and disordered human speech communication and language development. Students have an opportunity to develop critical thinking, information literacy, and strong oral and written communication skills.

While on co-op, students gain clinical experience, including preprofessional training appropriate to pursue a graduate degree in SLPA, related clinical healthcare domains, or education.

Careers

Students with backgrounds in linguistics have pursued advanced degrees in fields including law, cognitive science, education, English, interpreting, business, speech-language pathology, computer science, developmental psychology, sociology, and linguistics itself.

Other graduates have gone on to work in neurological research, computational linguistics, translation, language software, education, dictionary publishing, robotics, and criminal justice.

Your Secondary School Report and Official High School Transcript must be submitted directly from your high school.
