Overview

The BS in Computer Science from The City University of New York follows the guidelines of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Computer Society of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE- CS) Joint Curriculum Task Force, and combines rigorous academic study with the opportunity for a “hands-on/mindson” experience.

Learning outcomes

Students enrolled in the Computer Science Program are provided with a strong mathematics, science, and core computer science background. In addition to an Advanced Computer Science concentration, the B.S. Degree Program in Computer Science offers concentrations in the areas of Telecommunications, and Computational Science.

An important component of the Computer Science Program is the requirement for student internships and/or undergraduate research to develop the skills and expertise needed for success in industry and graduate school. The A.S. Degree in Computer Science is awarded to students who successfully complete the first two years of the B.S. Degree requirements in Computer Science. Dr. William C. Harris is Coordinator of the Computer Science Program.
