At Liberty, we recognize that each child is uniquely created by God. And our courses are taught from a Christian perspective by educators with years of experience in the field of special education. In this program, you’ll learn how to view teaching through a biblical worldview and make a positive impact in public, private, community, or home school settings.
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Special Education degree at Liberty University is designed for students who do not have an initial teaching license. The courses address topics like special education law, behavior management, and diversity and inclusion. Special Education coursework also includes field experiences in special education and settings inclusive of individuals with exceptionalities.
Graduates with the B.Ed. in Special Education who gain state licensure will be eligible to teach individuals with exceptionalities in kindergarten through 12th Grade. Graduates pursue a range of positions in the field of special education including public, private, Christian, and international settings.
With a B.Ed. and an initial license in Special Education: General Curriculum, graduates are able to pursue additional endorsements in special education, including early childhood special education, transition specialist, and adaptive special education.
It is not uncommon for candidates to be hired right out of student teaching.
