Overview
The Hospitality and Tourism Management program from the Florida Atlantic University prides itself on educating hard-working customer-oriented students.
We understand that students want to not only learn about Hospitality and Tourism Management, but also how they can apply classroom knowledge and experience to improve their professional careers and their lives. In our Hospitality and Tourism Management Program, students learn creative thinking, analytical, data analysis, and extensive written and oral communication skills.
With a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree as the foundation of this major, students are prepared for the business competencies and skills required in the hospitality industry of the 21st Century.
By having a BBA degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, students are well prepared to be future managerial and executive leaders in the hospitality industry with less of a “vocational” or “craft” training; instead, there is a stronger focus on financial statements, industry quantitative indicators (i.e., STAR Report), accounting principles, human resources, revenue management, and strategic planning.
Careers
Graduates assume managerial roles in varied hospitality disciplines including: resorts, hotels, restaurants, private clubs, meeting and event planning corporations, destination marketing organizations (DMOs), convention centers, cruise lines, casinos, theme parks, car rental agencies, sports facilities, spas, entertainment venues, national and state parks, and vacation ownership or fractional ownership operations.
We also place students in mainstream business organizations such as banking, insurance, finance, or others where they can succeed using their hospitality and “customer” skills.
