Overview

Mercyhurst University is graduating teacher leaders who are impacting young minds around the world. You can choose to major in early childhood education (PreK-4) to teach children at the elementary level, or in our dual-degree program in early childhood/special education (PreK-8), which will enable you to meet the needs of all learners, including students with special needs, in today’s diverse, 21st Century classrooms.

English Language Requirements

    The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. General Requirements

  • If your records are written in a language other than English, translation of the documents into English and a statement attesting to the accuracy of the translations must be submitted (notarized)
  • Original test score results of the ACT or SAT (if available; however, if you plan to participate in inter-collegiate athletics, they are required)
  • All students are required to meet minimum health insurance coverage while enrolled at Mercyhurst University.
