Key Features

To achieve this, the Solid and Applied Mechanics degree at University of Southern California develops and implements novel techniques to model the dynamic response of structures, to control complex and flexible structures, to propagate uncertainty from material properties to structural response, and to infer the mechanical properties of materials from measuring their response.

These techniques find applications in structural and earthquake engineering, aerospace and automobile industries, modern manufacturing precesses, understanding the dynamics of human motion, understanding the interplay between biology and mechanics, and utilizing this interplay to detect and diagnose ailments like atherosclerosis and cancer.
