Overview

Students completing the requirements described in the Mechanical Engineering, Motorsports Engineering program of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte will receive a special designation on their transcripts showing that they have completed the Motorsports Engineering concentration.

Highlights

First-Year students may either select a major at the time of their application or may choose to be Engineering-undeclared. All First-Year College of Engineering students will take a common set of courses called the Common First Year. Towards the end of their first year, having completed all progression requirements, students will declare or confirm their Engineering Major for the second through fourth years. This selection may be the major they initially indicated or any other engineering major for which they meet the progression requirements.

Pre-Major/Prerequisite Courses: Freshmen MUST present a pre-calculus equivalent course, a math course during the high school senior year (grade 12/13) or math intensive science course such as physics or chemistry if no math courses are available, with no grades below C in any math courses. Students with AP test scores of at least 3 on AP Calculus AB or BC or early college high school students who present transfer credit for calculus equivalent to Calculus or higher are exempted from having a math course in the senior year

Submit one required essay

For freshmen applicants, submitting the SAT or ACT is optional due to the limited testing opportunities caused by COVID-19
