Overview

The Middle School Education program at Midway University prepares teachers to teach in grades 5-9. When you graduate you will meet the middle school teaching requirements for certification in Kentucky. Students wishing to seek certification in other states should contact that state’s teacher certification granting agency for information on specific requirements.

Learning Outcomes

Each middle school teaching student must have one area of academic emphasis. You may be able to meet the requirements for a minor while at the same time, meeting the requirements for an area of emphasis.

Once students have met admissions requirements and are accepted into Midway University, they then will need to apply for acceptance into the Teacher Education program.

General requirements

Submit your online application. A nonrefundable application fee of $30 is required before the application can be processed. In addition, there is a $50 Undergraduate International Processing and Mailing Fee.
Students are required to submit official high school transcripts, marksheets or academic record. If applicable, please include any other college-level transcripts in your submission. Detailed course by course evaluation may be requested.
Submit official proof of English proficiency. TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or PTE results are required if applicant is an non-native English speaker.
Official SAT or ACT scores.
Submit Financial Guarantee. US immigration regulations require that students demonstrate their ability to finance the first year of education before receiving the 1-20. Bank statements, fund verification letter, CDs, stocks, and scholarship letters are acceptable forms of documentation.
Submit a copy of the photo page of your current passport.
