Whether it’s hacking, identity theft, viruses, phishing, malware, money laundering, espionage or any other form of cyber crime, our unique bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity and Network Engineering, offered by the Information Technology Department, will get you on the front lines of this critical and fast-growing industry segment.
The Cybersecurity and Network Engineering program of New England Institute of Technology is designed for entry-level working professionals or those with an associate degree in Network Engineering or a related discipline, providing more extensive experience in the management of Local Area Networks (LANs), intranets, Wide Area Networks (WANs) and exposure to the configuration and management of web servers. The curriculum includes core topics in the realm of cyber security, such as computer systems, mobile and network forensics, Windows and Linux security and incident response.
Program Outcomes:
Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Apply practical and theoretical Network Engineering knowledge based upon the foundation concepts defined in an integrated environment, while understanding how proper design applies to information security.
- Research, formulate and critique security policies regarding the collection, preservation, safeguarding and disposition of personal and organizational information by performing risk management and threat awareness.
- Create, follow, and meet objectives of a project plan and recognize the need for adaptation, adjustments, and restructuring of the plan, both as an individual IT professional, and in a team environment.
- Develop organizational business continuity plans and implement them by analyzing digital evidence to determine user and intruder activity on systems.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communications with supervisors, subordinates, team members and clients. In particular students should exhibit lucid, clear and concise technical and professional communication as well as be able to communicate complex technical ideas in layman’s terms to non-technically trained people.
- Provide network and system administration support with security auditing services in a responsible and ethical manner that complies with applicable laws and regulatory standards.
