The mission of the Bethany College Music Performance is to nurture, challenge and guide developing musicians, to train the future educators for both classroom and studio areas, and to provide performance opportunities for students, faculty, and community members. In addition, we strive to educate and engage audience members in the central Kansas region and beyond.

We offer a bachelor degree in Music Performance at the Bethany College. Many world renowned artists have traveled to Lindsborg to perform and teach. A large number of students, both music majors and nonmajors participate in campus music ensembles, lessons, and classes. 

Large choral and instrumental ensembles tour both regionally and internationally, and a variety of large and small ensembles enable students of all levels of ability to develop their musical skills, find personal enjoyment, and become part of Bethany’s close musical community.

Student Learning Outcomes for all Music Performance students:

  • The student demonstrates skills in performance through individual study, solo and ensemble performance, and a knowledge and understanding of the repertory in his/her performance area.
  • The student demonstrates knowledge of music theory skills and analysis.
  • The student demonstrates knowledge of music literature, the principal eras, genres, and cultural sources.
  • The student demonstrates skills in the use of technology in teaching and learning situations.
  • The student demonstrates the ability to solve musical problems by combining his/her performance capabilities in aural, verbal, and visual analysis; composition/improvisations; history and repertory; and technology usage.

General Requirements

Admissions and support in immigration related matters include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the check in, orientation and registration for new student and returning international students.
  • Explain the benefits and restrictions of F-1 visa status through immigration advising. 
  • Serve as a liaison for international students on campus and in the community. 
  • Advise international students on matter relating to their academic programs that may impact their F-1 status in the U.S. 
  • Provide information on authorized employment opportunities, including practical training. 
  • Aid in the securing of legal documents available to international students.
