The Mathematics major at Bethany College helps our students develop a strong analytical mind, conceptual thinking ability, and technical readiness for systematic real-world problem solving. It is one of the most far-reaching majors, which finds itself effectively employed almost in all aspects of human productivity and creativity, and thus empowers each student with a flexible career choice.

Student Learning Outcomes for all Mathematics students:

  • Students will demonstrate problem-solving skills and apply such skills in the context of real world problems.
  • Students will communicate mathematics clearly in writing: Students are able to use both analytical and abstract reasoning to organize and write correct arguments.
  • Students will communicate mathematics clearly verbally: Students are able to use both analytical and abstract reasoning torganize and present correct arguments verbally.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to reason and think in abstract terms, construct well-organized and logically sound proofs, and recognize valid mathematical arguments.

General Requirements

Admissions and support in immigration related matters include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the check in, orientation and registration for new student and returning international students.
  • Explain the benefits and restrictions of F-1 visa status through immigration advising. 
  • Serve as a liaison for international students on campus and in the community. 
  • Advise international students on matter relating to their academic programs that may impact their F-1 status in the U.S. 
  • Provide information on authorized employment opportunities, including practical training. 
  • Aid in the securing of legal documents available to international students.
