Studio Art majors graduate with a focused portfolio of professional work, along with the skills and knowledge needed to sustain a career as an artist.
Our Studio Art curriculum teaches a wide variety of media via three concentrations:
- 2-D Studio: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Illustration
- 3-D Studio: Ceramics, Metalcraft, Fibers, Sculpture
- Photography: Digital, Traditional Darkroom, Lighting, Digital Imaging
From Passion to ProfessionAs a Studio Art major at the University of Saint Francis, you will learn more than just how to create successful art: you’ll learn the skills needed to sustain a career as professional artist. All Studio Art majors are required to take the Professional Studio Practicum course, which address the “business-side” of being an artist, as well as a professional Internship in places such as museums, galleries, theatres, schools, non- profit arts organizations, or as assistants for professional artists.Additionally, many Studio Art majors supplement their degree with a minor that focuses their studio skills toward the following creative industries:
- Minor in Illustration
- Minor in Graphic Design
- Minor in Sequential Art
- Minor in Visual Development
