About

University of Saint Francis’s Studio Art program will prepare you for a wide variety of art-related careers, as well as place you among professional artists.

Overview

You’ll grow from the individualized attention and support you receive from our School of Creative Arts faculty — all working professional artists. In addition, you will connect with community-based artists as you develop and expand your own talent and capabilities.

Studio Art majors graduate with a focused portfolio of professional work, along with the skills and knowledge needed to sustain a career as an artist.

Our Studio Art curriculum teaches a wide variety of media via three concentrations:

  • 2-D Studio: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Illustration
  • 3-D Studio: Ceramics, Metalcraft, Fibers, Sculpture
  • Photography: Digital, Traditional Darkroom, Lighting, Digital Imaging

From Passion to Profession

As a Studio Art major at the University of Saint Francis, you will learn more than just how to create successful art: you’ll learn the skills needed to sustain a career as professional artist. All Studio Art majors are required to take the Professional Studio Practicum course, which address the “business-side” of being an artist, as well as a professional Internship in places such as museums, galleries, theatres, schools, non- profit arts organizations, or as assistants for professional artists.Additionally, many Studio Art majors supplement their degree with a minor that focuses their studio skills toward the following creative industries:
  • Minor in Illustration
  • Minor in Graphic Design
  • Minor in Sequential Art
  • Minor in Visual Development
