Our Communications major emphasizes areas such as listening and group communication skills, journalism, public relations and advertising.

Rockhurst University offers two Bachelor of Arts in Communications major track options – human communication and mass communication – along with a communication minor and journalism minor.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Counselor's written recommendation
  • ACT or SAT test score. Applicants must either take the American College Testing Program (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). A minimum ACT composite and English category score of 20 or minimum SAT score of 950 is required
  • Official high school academic credentials, translated into English if necessary. Rockhurst recommends Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) and requires a "course-by-course" report. Fill out and print an online ECE application
