Outside the Classroom

Students of the Nursing program of Wingate University gain valuable hands-on experience by working within the local communities in hospitals, mental health facilities, end of life care, home health care, public school systems, community health, nursing homes and wound care.

Students participate in poverty simulation, community clinics, public school clinics, health fairs, and a variety of community outreach opportunities and small individual lab experiences.

Nursing Career Opportunities

The RN has the opportunity to work in a variety of direct hands-on patient care and indirect care of patients through interdisciplinary support in management and administration. According to ACEN (2020) Report to Constituents: 2019, ACEN-accredited BSN programs have a 92.11% job placement rate for 2018-2019.

Students who have a desire to specialize their nursing practice can achieve this goal through graduate education. Wingate University currently does not have nursing graduate programs; however, our students are advised by well-qualified nursing faculty who hold graduate degrees and have 50+ years of combined nursing experience. This knowledge and experience will guide students with beneficial information to acquire a higher level of nursing education.
