About Mathematics
Math and Business
When you major in math and business, you take math courses that teach you the quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills you need in the business world.
Math and Education
Our Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Education is a double degree guaranteeing you the opportunity for a rewarding career. You take at least 32 hours of upper-level math courses. That’s considered a full math major. Getting to know discrete mathematics intimately and linear algebra concretely gives you the tools you need to be a successful teaching in grades 9-12.
Outside the Classroom
Hands-on education in the field awaits you too. Internships provide you with practical experience while you’re still in college. The Office of Career Services and the American Mathematical Society can point you to internship opportunities in math. Conducting undergraduate research gives you the chance to deeply examine a math-related topic of your choice. Recent students have researched fractals and the expected value of casino roulette. Internships and research can make your graduate school application or résumé stand out.
