Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Exercise and Sport Science program at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, students should be able to:

Understand the role and importance of lifelong physical activity and exercise in society

Demonstrate the ability to apply fundamental concepts of human physiology to explain how the human body responds to exercise and changing environments

Describe neuromuscular control systems and concepts related to movement and motor skill acquisition, retention, and transfer

Describe biomechanical and anatomical concepts of human motion and apply these concepts to understanding exercise, performance, and injury

Understand the research process including research design, statistical terminology, and utilization of literature. Through this process they will be able to critically analyze current research in the field of exercise and sport science

Official Transcript and School Report: Ask your school to send us your official transcript by secure electronic delivery as well as an official school report.

College and University Courses: If you’ve taken courses for credit at a college or university, you are required to report them on your application and include the specific courses and grades in the UNC supplement, but you don’t need to send official transcripts when applying.

SAT or ACT Scores: Because of disruptions related to COVID-19, the UNC System has approved a waiver of the SAT or ACT requirement for candidates who are applying for fall 2022 admission.
