At Edinboro, we pride ourselves on our 100-year history of instruction in the visual arts and art education. In addition, our Art Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD), which sets national standards for excellence in the field.

As a student in the Printmaking program from Pennsylvania Western University, you'll learn hand-printed methods such as screen printing, relief (woodcut and linocut), intaglio (etching and engraving) and lithography.

Professors and peers will help you hone your skills, using direct drawing, photographic techniques, and electronic and digital imagery. You will have the opportunity to work with visiting artists; apply for an internship at a community-based printmaking studio; and participate in on-campus organizations such as the Print Club, the Student Art League, Chimera, and Egress Press and Research, our own professional fine art publishing studio.

There is no portfolio review prior to admission. Just bring your passion for the arts and a desire to work hard in a multidisciplinary, highly supportive environment.

The Art Department at Edinboro is one of the largest in the country and meets the same rigorous standards as the finest art programs in the nation.

Here, you'll have the freedom to explore different printmaking techniques and styles using our expansive fine arts studios, which are designed to enhance your creativity. Our photo processing and washout room houses large exposing units for screen printing, photolithography and polymer plate processing, as well as a Hollander beater and paper press used for paper-making. Two well-ventilated studios house specialized equipment such as:

Hydraulic pneumatic RAM press

Three intaglio presses up to 42" x 72"

Three lithographic presses up to 30" x 50"
