The State of Illinois has a shortage of elementary teachers. At Lewis University, the Elementary Education program prepares students to obtain an Illinois Professional Educator’s license, earn an endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESL) and to teach grades 1-6.

About

Additionally, Lewis is partnered with more than 60 school districts, seven counties and 130 schools in the Chicago area, allowing students to become exposed to a variety of cultures and communities during their observation hours.

Through a unique partnership with College of DuPage (COD), students may attend COD for the first two years of the program and complete the final two years at Lewis University's main campus in Romeoville, for a discounted tuition rate. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education degree from Lewis University.
