About

The goal of the Mathematics major at Saint Anselm College is to provide our students with the necessary tools to pursue the great variety of career opportunities that exist for mathematics majors today, such as actuarial science, finance, and education.

Overview

Students may also major in math with economics or pursue teacher certification in math with the Education Department.

Mathematics is the quantitative language of the sciences and social sciences. Thus, we welcome students of other majors and encourage communication and cooperation between departments. Students who are interested in teaching math may find additional information on the education web site.

The objectives of the Mathematics curriculum at the Saint Anselm College are: to develop the attitude of mind required for efficient use and understanding of mathematics; to enhance student ability to problem-solve with the aid of quantitative models; to use technology to provide stimulating opportunities for the student to experience mathematics independently as a pattern-seeking science; and to provide sufficient background for further studies in mathematics and related disciplines.
