Overview
Chemistry is the science that deals with the composition, structure and interactions of matter. Chemists are at the forefront in advancing new technologies to solve problems involving human and animal health, the environment, energy alternatives and conservation, new materials, detection of hazardous substances and crime investigations.
The Jacksonville State University Chemistry program has gained the seal of approval from the ACS, an accomplishment that distinguishes the program nationwide as a rigorous and broad-based program that provides undergraduates the intellectual, experimental and communication skills needed to become effective scientific professionals.
JSU Faculty Scholarship in Chemistry
This award shall be a one-time award for outstanding achievement in Chemistry at Jacksonville State University. For a student’s application to be considered, the student should:
- Be a full-time student and chemistry major at Jacksonville State University
- Possess an overall GPA of 3.0, with a 3.5 in Chemistry
- Have achieved Junior or Senior status by the deadline
- Have not received this award in a previous year
In addition to academic success, the student’s service to the Chemistry program at JSU and to the community will be considered. These accomplishments may include: performing directed research; presenting research at local, regional, and national meetings; giving presentations for local high-school student groups; and attending preview day to interface with potential chemistry majors.

National
- There is a $35 non-refundable fee that must be paid by credit card when you submit this application.
- Complete the application for admission online.
- Submit all required documents for your admission type
- Application form and Application Fee $35.00.
- High school GPA of 2.0/4.0 (US grading scale).
- Copy of Passport.
- Copy of financial document (financial statement and letter) stating a balance of at least $33,500.
- If credentials are in a language other than English they must be translated by the institution itself or approved translation services.
- At least one standardized test score such as ACT/SAT/ TOEFL/ IELTS/iTEP/PTE/Duolingo.
- Proof of English Proficiency. (In addition to TOEFL/IELTS/iTEP/PTE/Duolingo, the ACT/SAT can satisfy proof of english proficiency requirement)
