About

The Environmental Science program of The University of Tampa is a broad, highly flexible degree program that prepares students for careers in a wide range of environmental fields, including environmental law, political science, government agency employment, and private sector consulting, as well as graduate work in environmental science and all related fields.

Overview

Key Features

The Environmental Science program of The University of Tampa gives students the knowledge and skills to be successful in the laboratory and field, as well as in public forums where environmental and public policy decisions affect the ecology and conservation of nature, the extraction and utilization of critical natural resources, and the long-term sustainability of human populations.

Several biology and chemistry faculty members are conducting research in environmental science or a related discipline. Thus, numerous experiential learning opportunities are available with this degree, both during the semesters or during the summer and winter breaks. In addition, a new student group, the UT Tampa Bay Association for Environmental Professionals, is tailored to assist biology majors in general, and environmental science majors in particular, in gaining local and remote internships and permanent employment in their area of interest.

The B.S. in Environmental Science is a program that continues to grow and evolve. The biology faculty is currently in the process of revising the course distribution requirements of this major, adding new courses specific to the major, and integrating courses from other departments (e.g., Political Science and International Studies).
