Students and faculty in the Chemistry program at Christopher Newport University study the natural world at the molecular and chemical level.

Key Features

A strong emphasis on critical-thinking promotes a rigorous academic atmosphere, and our modern teaching labs and research facilities foster a lifetime of learning and scholarship.

The Chemistry program at Christopher Newport University creates supportive educational experiences and believe diverse perspectives are imperative to finding solutions to the problems we face as a society. We welcome and encourage underrepresented voices, and understand that diverse individuals make our scientific endeavors and teaching more robust and creative.

After Graduation

Molecular biology and chemistry majors are well prepared to pursue further study in all areas of biology and chemistry, as well as health-related fields. Many of our majors enter medical school or other professional programs (e.g., dentistry, pharmacy, public health); others choose to continue their education at Christopher Newport by pursuing an MS in environmental science or the Master of Arts in Teaching Program. Both offer a five-year option as well as a traditional master’s program. Other graduates go on to be sought-after teachers, laboratory technicians and government scientists. Whatever your career aspirations, you’ll be fully prepared with a degree from Christopher Newport.
