Students at Theatre from Southern Connecticut State University take classes in acting, dancing, elocution, design, technical theater, history, and dramaturgy. And yet they still have the freedom within the curriculum to focus on their studies on areas of interest. Additionally, our students have ample opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in our four-show season where they are closely mentored by our outstanding faculty professionals.
Southern’s close proximity to New Haven and New York City connects students to vibrant performance industries and practical training, and prepares them for a multitude of professions, from employment with touring companies and cruise lines, to careers with television/film studios and commercial theaters. Internship opportunities include: Long Wharf Theatre, Hartford Stage, The Elm Shakespeare Company, and Godspeed Musicals and the New Haven public schools.
