This flexible Interdisciplinary Studies program from Southern Connecticut State University allows students to integrate multiple academic areas of interest into a single and unique degree program.

Programme Structure

Course Overview:

  • Generally, students may not select more than one existing concentration from the same discipline and must complete a minimum of 30 credits overall at the 300 or 400 level (any 300 or 400 level course in the student’s degree program may count towards the 30 credit requirement).                     
  • A self-designed interdisciplinary concentration must be approved by the Interdisciplinary Studies Program Director.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.7

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.7 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Online application: This includes a 500 word personal essay and a $50 application fee (payment is made by credit card - American Express, Discover, and Master Card)
  • Document-by-document evaluation of high school record: Evaluation agency must be a member of NACES - List of acceptable evaluation agencies. For questions about the evaluation process, please contact the agency directly. If your transcript is in English, an evaluation is still required to determine diploma equivalency.
  • Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL, IELTS, Certificate of completion from ELS Academic English Level 112, SAT, ACT, or successful completion of the English Language Pathways Program.
