Overview

A major in Spanish at the University of Tennessee Martin includes lower-division courses on language development and at least 24 semester hours of upper-division courses taught in Spanish by fluent professors, some of whom are native speakers.

Courses include topics in language, culture, civilization and literature and require students to both speak and write in Spanish. A language-immersion program is required and can take the form of a study-abroad placement, short-term travel study, exchange program, international internship or other approved experience.

Students applying for admission must submit the following:

A completed online application.
$130 application fee, payable at the end of the online application before submitting.
A bank letter or other papers of financial support.
An official high school transcript with a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale with proof of graduation. Transcripts should be translated into English and evaluated by a third-party credentialing company such as WES, ECE, or SpanTran, if applicable.
If you are a transfer student from a non-US college or university, your transcripts must be evaluated by a third-party credentialing company such as WES, ECE, or SpanTran.
If you are a transfer student from a US university or community college, your transcripts sent directly from that institution.
